timekid was a remarkable experience for us. basically this project is the main reason we started the company.

all of the founders happen to be parents of digital natives and we experienced first hand the challenges of managing our kids' screen-time. as you might know yourself time spend in front of computers, pads or phones can quickly get out of hand. and let's face it, it is often convenient for us as parents to have the kids busy, while we are doing our own things.

in principle timekid is a clock that runs down daily screen-time given to your child.

but the app does not switch off the device by itself once time is up, it only gives an audio signal and a message. we had a debate on this during the design process and came to the conclusion that we'd rather build something "soft", which kids do not perceive as an "enemy".

experience within our families confirms that. once the rules are established, the kids are actually quite fine with accepting if time is up on a specific day. which BTW can save tons of daily bargaining time!

time on timekid has an interesting side effect. it can be used as kind of reward currency. while you have your weekday and weekend rules in place you can add or subtract time for the current day.

recently my five year old did so well in ice skating, that i just wanted to give her something nice. so she got additional fifteen minutes on timekid - and she loved it!

a nice feature of the app is the statistics part, where you can look back in time to check when your kid was online. might be interesting for example if she or he does not sleep that well and you realise that the kid is just using devices too close to sleeping time.

in a future release we might add aggregated user numbers to give you a feel for how much time you are using compared to other parents.

you can use timekid on several devices. thus your spouse can download the app, connect with your child and has all information in sync. your kids' device can also carry the app, so the children can check by themselves how much screen time they have left on a specific day.

once you got timekid, it is hard to imagine living without. timekid simply closes a gap that came up with the birth of our wonderful digital natives.
