Q: Does timekid shut off the phone when time is up?
A: No! The philosophy of timekid is to help the parents to educate and communicate with their kids. It is about having clear rules and trust between parents and kids. We want the app to be a tool and a starting-point for discussion between parents and their kids. That's why timekid helps parents and kids keep track of their time, without forcing the device to shut down. Check out the video about timekid and our philosophy:
Q: How do I add a kid?
A: Touch the circle "add a kid". Enter their age-range. Then enter the unique username of the kid. Touch "save". This adds a kid with the default rules: 30 minutes on weekdays, and one hour on weekends.
Q: How do I edit the rules?
A: After you add a kid, you can touch "manage", which opens the screen to manage the current kid. Touch a rule to edit it, or touch "add" to add a new rule. Select the day and hours/minutes you want, and select "save". Then on the manage screen select "save".
Q: How do I see statistics?
A: Touch "manage", which opens the screen to manage the current kid. On the bottom you see statistics. Swipe left and right to see the last week, last three months, last year, average over weekdays, and average over hours of the day.
Q: Can the other parent also see and control our kid?
A: Yes! After you have added a kid, the other parent can also download timekid and link to the kids that you added. Check out the video (english only):
Q: Can my kids start and stop their own time?
A: Yes! There is a add-on app, "timekid add-on kids remote control". This allows your kids to start and stop their own timer, as well as give time gifts to other kids and ask their parents for quality time. See the question above and the "sharing" video for more details!
